Amazon.com: This album is the soundtrack to the one-hour ABC-TV special of the same name; Travis co-starred with Chuck Norris as a singing cowboy actor who befriended a young runaway while filming a new movie. The soundtrack is dominated by new songs written in the old cowboy-movie style, and Travis sings them with all the sumptuous tone and masterful phrasing you'd expect. You can tell Travis really loves these songs by the way he holds certain notes in his throat and savors them, as if he were reluctant to let them go. --Geoffrey Himes
Customer Reviews:
- I agree with a previous commenter - Instant Classic : Randy Travis is a great songwriter - that's pretty much a fact. Even if you're not a fan of country or western or folk music, you have to admit he's a very gifted songwriter. Many of these songs feel like someone just wrote 'instant classics' or 'new' old cowboy songs.
- One of his best: I saw the TV film "Wind in the Wire" in 1993 or about then. I loved it so much I got the album and am still in search of a DVD of the film. 13 years later and I'm still looking. Must tell you something about how great it is.
- Great Concept: The ultimate concept album, Wind in the Wire is the soundtrack to a western movie that never was. Great singing-cowboy tunes makes this album an instant classic!
- One of the bests works of Randy Travis: This is one of the bests works of Randy Travis.
My favourite tracks are: Paniolo Country and Wind in the Wire
