Amazon.com: This Is Me is Randy Travis's strongest album since the stunning 1986 debut Storms of Life. As on that project, Travis has taken the time to pick 10 tunes that are all potential singles. The combination of strong songs and Travis's rich baritone, smooth and dark as apple butter, should win over anyone looking for real country music and not just a substitute for the soft rock of yesteryear. Travis is still an unreconstructed traditionalist; the material may be fresh off Music Row, but he gives it a honky-tonk twang and a touch of Western swing. On the title song, a plea for an estranged lover to at least talk to the singer, he adds a trace of astonishment that things have deteriorated so far. It's little touches like that that make Travis one of the finest singers in American music today, and This Is Me is as good an album as he's ever made. --Geoffrey Himes
Customer Reviews:
- A Country Fan: A lot of Randy's songs have sentimental value to them. They are as amazing as the artist himself. He's had some wonderful songs. I know the title song of this albulm was a song that I would listen to over and over again no matter how sad it was. And his song "Before You Kill Us All" was just hilarious. I was surprised at the hilarity of it but at the same time it has a seriousness to it.
This is definitely one country artist to add to your collection if you haven't already. And if you already have the artist's CDs then this is definitely an albulm to get. - This is Randy... good as always!: This album is a good collection to get. Though Randy can get a little boring in some songs, it doesn't out weigh the rest of the CD.
Another great CD to add to your Randy Travis collection!
