Product Description: Convertible headset design - headband or over-the-ear / In-line control for volume and mute Whether you consider health, stress management or convenience, this headset is a really important accessory for youAmazon.com Review: The Plantronics lightweight headset is designed to free your hands while you drive or work with a wireless phone. Though the unit's noise-canceling microphone makes it especially suitable for calls placed over a cell phone, it's also appropriate for use with traditional office phones. Recipients of our phone calls reported no annoying disturbances or distortions during conversation, and audio quality on our end was clear as well, if a bit muffled. The headset works best on phones that feature good volume controls, because the microphone adjust switch raises and lowers the volume in a very narrow range. The M175 also has the nifty feature of converting from a headband to an over-the-ear-style headset. Unfortunately, this also makes for a somewhat flimsy construction. Pieces immediately began falling off the unit as soon as we removed it from its packaging, though snapping the components back in place took little effort. Overall, the Plantronics M175 headset is a versatile, quality headset for those looking for a hands-free way to work with their mobile or cordless phones. --John Frederick Moore Pros: - Lightweight design
- Good sound quality
Cons: - Headset microphone has narrow volume range

Customer Reviews:
- Good product at a great price: I ofter work from home at least twice a week, and a big part of my schedule is participating in conference calls, so a good headset was important for me. My first headset from Ativa did not pan out as I had too many people complaining that they could not hear me very well. I then bought this headset, largely based on my prior experience with other Plantronics products, and reviews I read on amazon for this product
My experience so far has been very positive. The sound is clear and crisp on my end, and my co-workers have confirmed that they can hear me just fine. The days I work from home the headset gets a lot of use, and sometimes as much as 3 hours at a single stretch. The headset is comfortable, and the mute and volume controls are accessible and easy to use. Whats more, the price cannot be beat. - Best Bluetooth headset so far...: I have been through 4 different bluetooth headsets so far, and this one is far and away the best. The first was too bulky. The second (Jawbone) couldn't be carried easily when not in use, and got repeatedly crunched in my pocket until it wasn't functional. The third was a motorola flip version, and didn't stay on my ear well. This one fixes all those problems. The carrying case is truly inspired. It works great, and protects the earpiece when not in use. Best of all, you can charge it while it is secure in the carrying case. It fits well, even if you can't easily see the physics of how it will work from the images. Sound quality is great, but wind noise is still a problem. Always has been with headsets, so maybe next model. Overall, a great headset.
- Plantronics M175 offers outstanding value: I recommend the Plantronics M175 headset to home or home office users who want to talk hands free and who don't mind a corded headset. My experience with the M175 headset has been very favorable. The brand reputation, feature set, low maintenance cost, and low price combine to make an outstanding value.
I purchased the Plantronics M175 headset for use in the home with an AT&T E5828B telephone. The E5828B has a corded deskset and two cordless handsets. The handsets each have a headset port which is how I use my M175. With the handset clipped to my belt with the supplied belt clip and the M175 on my head and clipped to my shirt with the supplied alligator clip I can move about the house while talking on the phone, and have both hands completely free allowing me to do other things like taking notes, washing dishes, folding laundry, etc.
I use an industrial version of a Plantronics headset at work and it has been trouble-free for over 10 years. Before researching the M175 I was sold on the Plantronics brand due to my experience at work.
I chose the M175 over other Plantronics products based on the features I wanted from a headset product. This one wraps around my head, which I like, but also has ear clips in case you don't want to wear it over your head. The headset is very light weight and comfortable on my head. The ear piece is padded and covered with a synthetic (like vinyl) and feels good on my ear.
The M175 is a corded headset, therefore, it does not require its own battery. It draws power from the handset battery. This reduces my lifetime maintenance cost for this product.
Reading some of the other reviews on this product, people had trouble either hearing or being heard with this headset. I have had neither problem. There are adjustable volume controls on the headset for both speaking volume and listening volume. My telephone handset also has a listening volume control which can be used in addition to the headset volume control. The microphone boom looks a little short, but in practice I find it is of sufficient length and offers enough adjustment to get it in the right position.
I paid about $32 for the product which had a list price of $65. As I write this review it is under $28 with the same list price. I feel I got good value at $32 and $28 is even better.
I do not see how to replace the earpad if it wears out. Perhaps the foam earpads available at Radio Shack would fit over the ear piece in the event the original wears out. It would be a nice additional feature if Plantronics supplied a couple or three foam earpad covers that fit over the built in earpad. That way, if one got dirty or worn out it could be replaced easily while saving the built in earpad from wear.
The Plantronics M175 headset used in concert with the AT&T E5828B cordless handset is a very convenient and useful combination. If you are looking to add a headset to an existing telephone the M175 is an excellent choice. The Plantronics brand reputation, M175 feature set, low (or no) maintenance cost, and low price combine to make an outstanding value. To repeat my opening line, I recommend the M175 headset to home or home office users who want to talk hands free and who don't mind a corded headset. Were I in the market for another headset I would purchase another M175.
- Plantronics Headset M175 for Mobile & Cordless Phones: This product works reasonably well. I am being told by the other party that they hear the voice softly compared with talking directly. This is a disadvantage. Otherwise it is OK.
- Excellent Product!: I never owned a headset before. I can't imagine there being a better headset than this one! It's comfortable to wear and works great! I use this with my PHILIPS CD 645 High-Def Voice Speaker Phone and they seem to be perfectly compatible with each other.
