Amazon.com: Handsome young men whack each other in the face with sticks and learn about life in this enjoyably silly hockey movie. Rob Lowe stars as Dean Youngblood, an American rookie who's been given a shot on a Canadian Junior League hockey team. Sure, he can skate, but can he take a punch? This coming-of-age story is about learning the beauty of vicious hockey fights. No, really. Containing both young-bucks-in-the-locker-room shots and plenty of hockey violence, Youngblood is a surprisingly entertaining cupcake of a movie--there's not much nourishment, but it sure tastes good. Watch for Patrick Swayze as the team's leader and Keanu Reeves in his first film role as the French-Canadian goalie. The DVD's most entertaining feature is the option of watching Youngblood dubbed into French--not to be missed. --Ali Davis

- Maybe you gotta be a hockey fan.....: I am a hockey fan and I enjoyed this flick. Completely believable? No, but no worse than any other sport film. Lots of good action (the violence depicted was actually not that far off from the way hockey was in the late 70s and early 80s). Cynthia Gibbs was sexy and Lowe and Swayze looked good on skates.
I am a bit biased because Eric "Elbows" Nesterenko played Lowe's father. Nesterenko was my hero when he played for the Black Hawks in the 60s. He was one of the toughest, meanest, most hated players in the NHL. Seldom scored a goal, but the other team almost never scored when he was on the ice. I had to laugh when he breaks down and gives Lowe tips on fighting, because he really was an expert. - youngblood review: i got this for a friend if my wife's-she is very happy with it,i believe it is a gift for x-mas, she was happy i got it so quickly
- Best Hockey Movie Ever....: THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST HOCKEY MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. WITH AN AWESOME CAST AND APPROPRIATE REPRESENTATION OF THE TRUE CANADIAN GAME OF HOCKEY ITS EXCEPTIONAL. PLUS WHO CAN FORGET GOOD OLD HANNAH...THE BEST CHARACTER IN THE MOVIE BY FAR!

Youngblood is a good movie and well casted with professional acting.
Not much else to say.. ... I don't play hockey. lol But I'm sure the movie is an accurate representation of the hockey profession.
- What I think of the movie Youngblood: I saw this movie a loooonnnggg time ago, I thought it was awesome then, and seeing it took me back to my hockey years. Still awesome!
