Product Description: Vertical In-Ear Stereo Headphones minimizes size and weight for maximum comfort 3.3 foot cord Weighs 0.5 oz (13g), without cordAmazon.com Product Description: The MDR-W08L headphones fit inside the ear for jostle-free listening. Created for active listeners, these headphones are better held in place with the wide, over-the-head headband. They are extremely lightweight (.5 ounces) and will provide hours of comfortable listening.

Sony uses 13.5 mm driver units in these headphones. While lightweight and small enough to fit inside the ear, they also deliver a good bass sound and wide frequency range (down to 20 Hz.) Neodymium magnets give the headphones maximum energy at a minimal size and weight. The open-air design allows for ambient noise to enter the ear, a safe feature for exercisers as you will hear car horns, passing bikers and dog barks. The cord is one meter long (3.3 feet) and the nickel-plated mini-plug offers crisp sound delivery. The headphones are a modern black color.

Customer Reviews:

  • $9.99!: outstanding value. very good sound quality. went running with them for the first time today and the headphones remained rock solid on the head/ears for the entire run, versus ear buds which didn't quite work for me, and always inevitably fell out, even when running on a treadmill. if i must be super critical, it was very windy today while i was running. because there is not a "seal" around the ear canal like the ear buds provide, you could hear some wind noise when running into the wind. otherwise, i cannot complain. i'm using them right now as i write this review. lol! enjoy.
  • good deal, good headphones: This is an old model from Sony, though they still compete well enough with newer models that cost up to four times as much. My previous pair of the MDR-W08L lasted nearly five years before the wires became worn in the casing.

The price is a bargain for the quality of sound these headphones consistently deliver. Furthermore, they allow for a slight amount of natural sound to enter the ears, thus allowing for safety while running, biking, subway travel, etc.
  • Superlight, high quality, deep bass.: Ok, so for $10 you're never going to do better than these. You won't ever feel this set on your head they're so lightweight, and the bass and clear tones coming out of it are amazing. The only issue here: I've gone through 3 of these sony models, and they only last a little over a year with moderate use with the left speaker cutting out permanently. Still, for $10 a year and a half, it's a great buy.
  • This model has been around for years: I have had a pair of these headphones for about 14 years, and the left ear finally gave out. I think it was because sometimes I'd wrap the cord around the earpieces too tight.

Anyway, I had been so happy with the sound from these headphones that I searched for the model number on the side of them and was pleased to see that the MDR-W08L are still sold by Sony, so I ordered them right up. This model has survived the test of time.
  • Most comfortable set of headphones but cheaply made.: I've been using this exact model of headphones for over 4 years and have burned through about 7 pairs. Sound will eventually stop coming out of one headphone.

The good thing is that these are by far the most comfortable headphones and for $10, I will keep buying new ones when they break. They sound good too.
