Product Description: A cassette adapter for all Discman(R) playersAmazon.com Product Description: The Sony CPA-9C cassette adaptor allows you to connect your minidisc or CD player to a vehicle cassette player. While this Sony product works best with Sony CD and MD players, the adaptor will operate with non-Sony products as well. There are a couple of key features to this adaptor which make it a fine choice. The first notable feature is the spring-loaded head. The head will automatically adjust itself to your vehicle's cassette deck, ensuring that the two heads have optimum contact and transfer the best possible sound. The second key feature is the silent mechanism. A silent mechanism yields less operational noise and a better quality MD or CD sound. This adaptor works with all cassette players which require you to insert the tape opening facing the side. The mini-plug inserts into a portable CD or MD headphone jack. The cassette adaptor is a cheap way to make your vehicle CD and MD operational. What's in the Box Sony CPA-9C Cassette Adaptor

Customer Reviews:
- Works for limited set of uses: Both my cars came with tape players (which I don't use), so this unit was perfect for me to route the audio from external units to a vehicle's stereo system.
I use this for my Garmin Nuvi 360 and Zune without having to run any wires behind the dash. It doesn't provide any control of the external accessories (i.e. I still have to use the Nuvi's touch screen, or the Zune's touchpad). Now all my songs and playlists are in one MP3 player that goes with me.
The only caveat is that the stereo will be in tape mode all the time. So, when hooked up to a GPS, one can't listen to the radio/CDs and have the music interrupted when the GPS issues turn instructions.
It worked out good enough to get another for the other car. - Better than my previous purchase: This is a really good cassette adapter. I had previously went the cheap route and bought a cassette adapter on Amazon for .99 plus shipping. That one didn't work right. I had to take it apart and then fix it. Finally, after about 3 months or so, it broke.
So I decided that I'd spend a little extra and get a quality product. The Sony Cassette adapter was a good choice. The sound quality is great, and the manfacturing feels solid. No complaints here at all except, why do I have a vehicle with a cassette player in the first place? - Works great: I tried to save some money by buying lesser expensive models but I could clearly hear the difference once I started using the Sony model. This is the best one I have used. Spend the 12 bucks, it is well worth it.
- Best Solution for AUX input: This is the best solution I could find for not having an Aux input. I have turned my Treo 700p into a speakerphone, MP3 jukebox and GPS through my 6 speakers. It rocks. The sound is incredible. I may get a couple of more just in case this one dies. So far it works great.
- One sided?: I too based my purchase on the reveiws. Didn't have more than 2hrs total playtime on it and it started malfunctioning. Read more of the reveiws and noticed a few people having similar issues, ie, clicking, very poor or no sound, with huming in the background. I tried it in a boombox and it worked fine. Flipped the tape over and tried it and that's where the poor sound came from. Took it back out to my car, hooked everything up and back to poor sound. I hit the side button and everything was back to normal. Apparently I had switched sides. People who have to manually eject and flip the tape over will more than likely not have this issue. Overall it sounds great but I have only used it for a couple of days. Nothing lasts forever...I just don't know when it's "forever" is.
