Customer Reviews:

  • Did the job I wanted: I wanted something simple with good sound while I sit and watch t.v when my wife is sleeping. These do the job just fine. They are infrared so you can't have anything blocking the receiver which also means you won't be walking around the house with these on. But if you just want to sit and watch t.v. they work great and are worth the price.
  • Great. Wonderful sound.: I hemmed and hawed, considered all of the other competition. Considered the more expensive set of Sony's. Finally I bit the bullet and bought theses. I just plugged them in an I was amazed. Now, it should be stated that I am comparing them to an old set of Zeneth Infared headphones that I had used for litterally 4 years. The sound on these is greatly improved.

One thing I had read in a review somewhere was about the Sony proprietary
battery. And it does come with a funny looking battery that looks like a AAA battery with two squares on the end. Well, not to be deterred I popped that out and put my standard rechargeable AAA battery in. Sure enough it works just fine.

So, the sound is excellent (I consider myself fairly picky on sound quality). The batteries are commonly replaceable. I am very happy with my choice.
  • Wow, better than expected: My grandfather is 88 years old and can barely hear anything. When he watches tv, he has the volume up soooo loud that it drives my grandma crazy. Plus he has the closed caption on. These headphones solved both problems. They are very impressive and crystal clear for tv listening. Very very simple setup and excellent battery life. My grandpa just leaves them on all the time and just charges them about every 3 days. As long as the base is pointing at him when hes watching tv in his power chair, he can hear the tv as loud as he wants since it has a volume control right on the headset. plus my grandma can turn the volume down as low as she wants on the tv and not affect his volume on the headset. I recommend this product to anyone with older family members that can't hear the tv!
  • Just because they work doesn't mean they are worth it. : I will be brief:

The headphones are remarkably uncomfortable. I'd like to think I have a normal-shaped head and the stiff 'bow' of the 'phones doesn't conform to my head at all. I am constantly re-adjusting them after they slide down and hit my neck.

The sounds quality is fair, at best. There is CONSTANT 'hiss', even at very low volume. I have tried combating this by turning the volume of the headphones to low and my MacBook Pro's volume to high. It's still there.

The product claims to have a 3 meter range. That is laughable. In a roughly high frequency-free environment my headphones cut out if I am more than FIVE FEET from the transmitter. Even on a full battery, the range is laughable.

I am somewhat brand-loyal to Sony. 90% of my electronic equipment comes from them, and I am usually impressed with their products. I realize that this is a cheaper-end product, but I expected AT THE VERY LEAST a pair of headphones that didn't out-and-out hurt my head when I use them.
  • Well priced infrared headphones: These headphones maintained a decent selling price (compared to double what many of the others are) with good enough quality to warrant the wireless. There is a distinct hiss in the back ground, but that comes with the infrared so if you want perfect clarity be prepared to shell out twice the money for a better wireless set. Otherwise, price and quality make these just good enough.
