Customer Reviews:
- The Price is Just About Right: Is the JamPlug cheap? Yes -- very glad I wasn't one of the poor folks who paid $50 for it.
Is it cheaply made? Yes -- the battery compartment lid cracked the first time I used it, and has been held on with gaffer's tape ever since.
Does it work as advertised? Yes, pretty much. You get the one thumbwheel volume control (not, as one reviewer somehow thought, separate volume and distortion controls). If you do as another reviewer said and play with the JamPlug volume control in concert with the volume control on your guitar/bass, you will be pleasantly surprised with the results, I think.
Does it hum? Yes, a little, and that can be a bit annoying, but not (for me at least) a deal-breaker.
Would I buy one again? Yes. It stays in my bass case and comes out at frequent intervals -- like when I practice and don't want to annoy the apartment-building neighbors.
Bottom line? Your money's worth for around eight bucks. - Great little road amp!: I take my old strat on the road when I travel. Never leave home without it. Normally I have plenty of time in the airport to jam. This little amp is great. Crank your guitar volume and lower the JamPlug volume to get sweet overdrive. Opposite settings for clean, albeit with a little hum. I use good earbuds and enjoy this little amp. Also works great at the beach.
For the price, or even for the original price of around $50, this is a fine little amp with a great design.
BTW, in the hotel I normally use a small Dean Markley amp.
Best to all,
Mick - For what i payed: I wasn't too disappointed. Really you're paying 15 bucks. There is some buzz, but it does what it's supposed to. I have a bartolini 5 string bass. At first i had some problems-i had my bass volume too high and on active-but once i turned down the bass volume switched to passive and turned up the jamplug it sounded pretty good. Real close to the direct in sound you get when recording in fact. Hey, i like it. I can wonder around and play. It's not the best tone but i'm happy. Cleaner tone would come thru a small prac amp with headphones, but that isn't this small is it?
- pretty cool: Well I do use this for guitar/bass pratice.
It does sound loud. Not bad for a pratice amp.
With this one you can take anywhere with you to jam.
You can also use the ear plug & plug it to your car stereo for a jam session... I liked it.
The down side:
Material is pretty cheap. cracks. Also theres a very minenute humm... - Smallest (and worst) Guitar Amp: I purchased this hoping it would have seperate controls for volume and distortion. Instead, DVForge somehow combined volume and distortion all in one cheap plastic dial, which results in very little control of distortion and volume. It also is EXTREMELY loud when you have any distortion.
It feels and looks a lot cheaper in real life than it does in any picture. The plastic is very cheap, along with the buttons and controls (all two of them).
I was hoping to save a few bucks by buying this small "amp," but instead I discovered it's a waste of money. Since I have purchased the Jamplug I have bought a Line6 PODxt, and I use that with headphones. Although it's not portable, at least it actually sounds like a guitar and not some radio station fading out.
This thing sounds absolutely horrible and is made very cheaply. Do not waste your money on it.
