Customer Reviews:
- Great Flashlight: This is my second Coleman Flashlight and they are great. It is bright and powerful. The batteries last forever as well as the bulbs. The price is a lot cheaper here at amazon then the coleman website.
- Great flashlight - once you get the batteries in.: This IS the greatest flashlight in the world. Bright W-I-D-E beam in front and the nifty opton of illuminating whatever with the underneath (or side depending on direction of the flashlight) with a bright flouresant light! Sure, its heavy (4 D batteries/not included). Sure its big (so you can find it easily/won't lose it). SO great the wide flat bottom gives the option of setting it on a flat surface. Real quality. Will last forever.
ONE PROBLEM - very hard to get the batteries in. You'd figure it out after 20 minutes (or more) of swearing at the flashlight, but here you go.
Take a coin and with the edge of it in the slot of the screw, REMOVE the little screw on the underside. Remove it, not just 1/4 turn like the directions say - that won't work. PUT THE SCREW SOMEPLACE WHERE YOU WON'T LOSE IT.
Then, jimmy the light off the front. Inside there is a panel. You need to "fiddle" with the latch inside/not obvious that it is a latch on the side of this "panel" inside until the thing pops open. Push or pull the little plastic part - the only part that will move at all. There, I think you've got it (sorry, lame description)...I'm doing the best I can. You will figure it out.
Put batteries in.
Replace front light/cover and go find that screw. Put that back in.
Be happy.

I am. - With this Brand you can't go wrong !: We had been looking for a new flashlight to use at the house and while on camping trips. After reading these reviews here and at other sites, we decided to purchase two of them. Lets start by saying they are very bright. Matter of fact, I would have to say they are brighter than all the others I have used with the exception of those 2 Million Candle powered units. I think the 4 D batteries are heavier than the unit itself. We enjoy having the ability to just sit it on a table and use the side light at our camping table. We hike quite a bit after sundown and needed a flashlight that would provide enough light to light our paths. It took alittle time to figure out the battery installation, but I had to read the manual twice to make sure. It does have a cushioned head on it in case of dropping it, but if it did fall, my guess would be that the bulb would be breaking long before the case itself as it appears to be very well made. 3 year warranty on top of it all and only $ 18 dollars at the time of my purchase.
- Not durable!: Great flashlight but after it was dropped on the carpet from only about 3 feet, it no longer works. Don't recommend it if you have kids!
