Installation takes only seconds and requires no tools. Can be moved from car to car.
Works on gas, diesel, propane and hybrid vehicles.
Works on all OBDII protocols including the new CAN protocol.Amazon.com: The ScanGaugeII is a 3-in-1 automotive trip computer, diagnostic scan tool, and 12 digital gauges in one small package. It connects easily to your car's On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) port, communicating directly with the vehicle’s computer. Not sure if your car uses OBDII or Controller Area Network (CAN)? The unit will automatically determine which system to use and switch to it. The ScanGaugeII works on 1996 or newer OBDII cars, including gas, diesel, propane and hybrid vehicles, as well as vehicles with the latest CAN systems, and the detachable cable allows for easy transfer between multiple vehicles. Its menu-driven operation means there's no need to memorize complex sequences, and no tools are required for installation. 12 Digital Gauges With 12 built-in gauges -- four can be displayed at once -- the ScanGaugeII can help determine fuel consumption rates, allowing you to adjust driving behavior and save gas. At the same time, keep an eye on coolant temperature, engine speed, and much more in real time. If there is a young driver in the house or friends borrow your car, the ScanGaugeII can record speeds of up to 158 mph and store the information for you to view later, so you will know just how fast your young driver or friend was going last night. If the unit was disconnected, you'll know: An indicator will be displayed in the trip data. ScanGaugeII mounts easily to your dash. View Larger | Gauges include: - Fuel Rate

ScanGaugeII makes diagnostics easy. View Larger | Scan Tool The ScanGaugeII includes a diagnostic scan tool that can check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), clear the codes, and turn off the "Check Engine" light on 99% of 1996 and newer vehicles. (However, this feature may not work on some trouble codes in Dodge vehicles.) If any DTCs are found, the ScanGauge will show how many there are as well as the codes themselves. Then you can use the Internet or repair manual to find out which is the failed part is, so you can repair it yourself or know what needs to be fixed at the mechanic's shop. Trip Computer Four sets of data are automatically recorded on the trip computer: Current, Today, Previous Day, and Tank Trip. The "current" trip restarts after the engine has been off for more than 3 minutes. The "today" trip restarts after the vehicle has not moved for 9 hours, and the data from "today" is moved to "previous day" when you restart the car, so you don't have to reset the computer every time you begin a trip. "Tank trip" resets when you fill up the tank. It can provide you with "to empty" data and other useful information, which can be viewed any time during the trip. The ScanGaugeII features 11 individually stored parameters, including: ScanGaugeII features 63 backlit colors. View Larger | - Maximum Speed

Customer Reviews:
- ScanGuageII: This Product is awesome. Especially now-a-days with the high gas prices. It is a proven fact that the best way to improve gas mileage is with driving habits. This will allow you to monitor your driving habits and fuel consumption. Even if your vehicle has the MPG meter built in, this gives you more options.
The main part of my review however, is the seller. The shipping time was half what they said it would be. And when I called the seller, I was directly connected to an associate who was freindly and professional and knowledgable. I wish they sold more products because I would do buissness with them and no one else! - A word on calibration: I've used my ScanGauge to monitor the fuel economy on three different vehicles. My experience has been that it was very accurate, right out of the box with no calibration required on my 2001 Ford Taurus, 3.0 liter engine.
It gave me very low mpg readings on my 2007 Dodge Dakota truck with a 4.7 liter engine. When the ScanGauge was reporting 17 mpg, the factory installed trip computer, which I know is accurate, was reporting 21 mpg. When I reprogrammed the ScanGauge for a 4.1 liter engine rather than the 4.7 liter engine, the two readings matched.
On the other end of the spectrum, when I plugged the ScanGauge into my wife's 2002 Honda Civic with a 1.7 liter engine, the mpg readings were unrealistically high - over 50 mpg on a 68 mile trip! The true number, which we know from experience, should have been closer to 44 mpg (Yes, the Civic really does get that kind of mileage!).
My feeling is that for very large and very small engines, the ScanGauge has to be calibrated over the course of several tanks of gas. You simply compare the number of gallons needed to fill the tank, versus the number of gallons used per the ScanGauge, and then adjust the engine size and/or "adjustment" factor in the ScanGauge. These adjustments are easy to make, so it's no big deal.
Otherwise, it's super easy to install and set up, and it provides all sorts of information in real time - practically anything that the on-board computer can see gets reported through ScanGauge. - scangaugeII: This is a great product, I noticed about 4 MPG from changing the way I drive by using the scangauge.
- A great way to save money!: I've used the ScanGauge for almost a month. Wow! What a difference it's made in the way I drive. Not only has it shown me how jackrabbit starts have impacted my mileage, but I've also learned the most efficient routes to take to and from work. Coming to work the way I'd always done cost me about $1.80. Taking a different route, even though it was off the Interstate and dealing with traffic lights, has shaved that to $1.41! The trips I took to the store were costing me $0.94 on my old route. With the new route it costs $0.73.
Then I did some experiments with highway driving. What amazed me is the MPG difference between 55 and 65 MPH. At 55MPH my Kia Sorento gets about 24MPG on the highway. At 65MPH that drops to around 21MPG. Then at 75MPH (the fastest we can drive on the Interstate in Colorado) it goes down to 18MPG.
So this little gadget will pay for itself in about 6 months of normal driving. Not a bad investement at all! - ScanGaugeII: A great product for what it does. It won't make your car get better gas mileage but it sure will help train you to drive so it does. The instantaneous MPG display shows exactly how much it costs to tromp on the gas pedal. I've upped my gas mileage by about 20% by changing the way I drive. And if case I forget this little gauge shows me.
The only drawback is that the PIDs (special codes for each specific car) are not readily available. All the preprogrammed gauges work great.
