Customer Reviews:
- not bad: I am used to listening to high-end audio, and by comparison these IEMs don't have quite the same level of detail, texture, and emotion.
At the same time, they do sound quite good. I had to use the small silicone tips, but then they fit in my ear quite well. When they're fully seated they block out an amazing amount of sound. Sitting on an airplane is nearly silent. Unfortunately they tend to creep out over time and I have to push them back in. But I think I may be able to fix that by cleaning out my ears a little better so there's less wax!
They do go *really* deep into your ear canal. At first it seems wierd, but I don't even notice once they are set in place. - Truly amazing - you'll rediscover your music: The Etymotic ER-6 series are magnificent - they put you in your own world of extremely clear, high-fidelity audio. One of the fun things about these earphones is that you'll hear new parts of your music that you didn't know were there - instruments you hadn't heard before, background sounds, even the breathing of the musicians.
For me, they fit perfectly, though they take a day or two of getting used to. Don't expect the deep, booming bass you might have with other "bass-boosted" headphones; the bass is good, just not thunderous. For me, that's just fine, since I don't listen to seriously bass-heavy music. And besides, I'd rather have the amazing clarity the Etymotics give than the muddy midrange you usually have to put up with from big bass headphones.
That brings me to another point - if you use these, you'll get spoiled. When listening to an MP3 compressed at 128, 160 or even 192 kbps, you'll start to hear the compression artifacts of MP3 and start to understand why professional sound engineers hate it so much. They forced me to re-rip all my music to lossless format, and it's been well worth it.
I own two pairs of these, the ER-6 and the ER-6i. The 6i seems to be a slight improvement, with better bass and sound isolation. Quite a steal at the price. - comfortable and clear: Most comfortable in-ear phones i have ever used. The sound is really clear. My only concern is the thinness of the wire.
- Great Earbuds: Great sound isolation. Flying my kite or running a D9 cat I keep the volume the same. Well worth the money.
- Etymotic earbuds: The product does exactly what I wanted it to do, I ride a motorcycle and the ear buds shut out all wind and road noise allowing the MP3 player, GPS, phone and bike to bike communication to be loud and clear. The only negative is the small size of the wires.
