• Disappointed: This product has proved frustrating and it has been returned. The clock and alarm functions were the problem. Even after reading the instructions multiple times and attempting to properly set the alarm to OFF, it would sound at odd times. Any time there is a malfunction with the outdoor remote sensor it has to be reset, brought inside and "connected" to the receiving unit. The 100' range is very "iffy" Unless you have line of sight and little in the way of walls, etc. it may not work. I finally concluded it was more grief than I wanted. • Do not buy this model: Not reccomended. It needs to be completely reprogrammed every few days. Outside sensor only reads part time and needs to be protected by the weather, I did this by putting it in a freezer bag. Customer service did not return my call. The inside temp. reading and the clock feature works great but I bought it for the outside feature and it was disapointing.
• HOW TO STOP THE ANNOYING BEEP!!!: This product is great if you know how to turn off the freeze warning... why they put it on there I have NO idea. I gave this product three stars because I had to look up these instructions, I should have to hunt all over for these and neither should you.
  
  These are instructions I found off the company's website.
  
  To deactivate the freeze alarm on the RAR381/681 and the RMR382/682, you will need to set the remote sensor to Channel 2 or 3. The freeze alarm does not work on channel 2 or 3.
  
  1) Remove the cover from the remote sensor and locate the channel switch (see item 6 on the figure below).
  2) Slide the channel switch to channel 2 or 3.
  3) Depress the reset button with a paperclip or pen (see item 5 on the figure below).
  4) Slide the battery cover back on.
• Too many bells and whistles: This product works fine as far as indoor/outdoor temperatures are concened. What's driving me nuts is the alarm clock feature. I guess they had enough room on the chip to include an alarm - and I don't need an alarm and didn't buy it for the alarm. This is especially true since directions are translated straight from the Chinese to a babble that makes no sense at all. Consequently, the alarm rings at random times day and night and eventually stops without human intervention - only to ring again at random. This wears down the battery, and will result in an early replacement need - unless I throw the thing against the wall first!
• Noisy: It gives accurate temperatures both indoor and out. I have packaged the outdoor thermo in a ziplock bag and attached it to a pole that is about 5ft from my house. I read an earlier review that said the outside units can get weather damaged, and I decided not to test it. The base unit has an annoying alarm that sounds when the outside temperature is between 32 and 28. I have found that there is no way to disable this alarm. I would not buy this product again.
