Customer Reviews:

  • Too big for the HD Passport: The product is excellent. The problem is that the case is too big for the hard disk. Amazon should take care the combination of different product. I will prefer to buy next time when I see the product my self.
  • FIX for BIG insides and Unsecure drive issues.: 1) it works. It holds the drive secure and I can string the USB cable out of the side and into the computer. Never have to pull the drive out of the bag. That much is nice, but...

    2) it's HUGE. It could hold a 3.5" drive. The dimensions they give are incorrect, these are the INTERNAL dimensions. Why? I don't know why they'd give internal dimensions and not mark them as such. If you have a small 3.5" disk drive, you'd probably be able to fit it but probably no cables. Did I mention it was huge?

    3) elastic band inside is inadequate. These are RELATIVELY heavy drives and they slide all over, even with the elastic band. I think that THREE elastic bands would have worked better. That way you can choose to use all three if one doesn't cut it. Did I mention it's huge inside?

    4) yes, you know it's huge, so how to solve this problem? Take two or three layers of cardboard (the box Amazon ships it in?) cut to 5 3/4" by 3.5" and rounded corners. Wrape a layer of Duct Tape (colored if you are fasion conscious) around it so you just don't have cardboard there. You can get creative and build it up so you have the cord sticking out the end and it doesn't slide or anything, but make sure to leave room for the USB cable. No, don't duct tape your drive to the cardboard, DUH! Slide the cardboard into the pocket opposite the drive and behind the elastic that holds the drive in. Problem solved!

So, bottom line is that you can solve the problems and custom-tailor your case to your drive. You'll offer it more protection and it'll be more secure in there. Have a blast. Overall, the build quality on this case is top-notch.
  • Good Quality, Impressed So Far: I've only used this for about a month or so, but so far I've been fairly impressed. I've read other reviews that said the case is too big for a small (2.5 in) external hard drive. While that is true, it's not bigger by a whole lot. It's not snug, but it's not constricting. I would say it is made of good quality and should last a long time.
  • Durable and Stylish Case: I bought this case for a WD Passport external hard drive and so far it has been a great product. As is pointed out in several of the other reviews, the case is a bit too wide and tall for the newer, smaller drives but it hasn't been a problem for me yet.

My only issue is that the cable included with the case is both very short (too short to be useful) and very sensitive to being bumped. It was a large enough problem for me that I bought a new cable. Fortunately though, the side pocket is easily large enough to hold a good sized cable and close without issue.
  • Too large for Western Digital Passport: I got this case because Amazon seemed to always join it with the WD Passports. Nice little case, but much too large for the Western Digital Passport. I suggest the actual case that Western Digital sells. That one is perfect.
