Customer Reviews:
- Don't Buy Phillips: My experience with Phillips has been horrible. I bough this player as a gift for my brother so it took me a while to give it to him and the 30 days return expired. The DVD player would not recognize discs so I called Phillips. They offered me a great solution, ship the defective unit to them (at my cost) and pay them $50.00 to send me a refurbished unit! Are you serious?
I don't know about you but that sounds like a horrible deal.
I called customer care etc to no help so I am boycotting Phillips. From now on I will NOT buy anything with their name on it. Funny thing is that my wife bought me a Norelco shaver which is made by them and it is actually pretty good. But still I am not buying anything from them anymore. Good luck though! - HD Upscale produces very sharp, detailed picture!: Easy setup and easy to use. I connected it to a 19" HDTV using the component cables that came with the TV. Using the upscale setting and a standard DVD with TV at 720p, the picture is bright and beautifully detailed. Much better picture than I had expected. I definitely recommend this player. It is thinner but a bit wider than my last player, so be sure it will fit your allotted space.
- Decent 1080p Upconvert DVD player: It works flawlessly since I've had it, but the only problem that I have is that the DVD tray is not sturdy like other DVD players that I have had. If you push it in slightly hard it will break it easily. Beside that problem, this is a great 1080p upconvert with affordable price.
- Perfect: This unit is great because it does what its supposed to do.
Movie quality is great (1080 upconvert). Setup is very easy (I hate how complex some basic gadgets are becoming - getting old?!). The unit is sleak and actually looks very good. It plays all regions (the reason I bought it - instructions to set this up available online). It has an added incredible 'bonus' USB feature which means I can play *.avi (full movie) files from my flash drive at excellent quality. All standard cable outputs supported including HDMI.
For $60, I don't think anything else needs to be said. - Multi region: I bought this because I wanted to play multi region DVD's (from the UK). I found a short sequence of codes online that took about two minutes to input and then the player was unlocked for all DVD regions. Much cheaper than buying from an online retailer who does it for you. Good picture, good sound. Small machine. Only the remote and menus let it down slightly.
