Product Description: In this hilarious and heartwarming family comedy one of the sport's toughest players ever takes on his biggest challenge yet -- fatherhood! A superstar with an ego bigger than a football field Joe Kingman (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is getting ready for a run at the big championship game when the 8-year-old daughter he never knew existed shows up at his not-so-family-friendly bachelor pad. As the big game gets closer he begins to realize the most meaningful win he can achieve is the heart of the one little fan who counts the most.System Requirements:Running Time: 110 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: CHILDREN/FAMILY Rating: PG UPC: 786936747317 Manufacturer No: 5568603Amazon.com: "When you look at me, what do you see?" pontificates football star Joe Kingman, then provides the answer: "Greatness." Well, clearly an ego like that needs to be brought down to size--pint-size. The winning family comedy The Game Plan has a whole lot going for it, including star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who's a natural comedic actor (and the camera loves him), and the young actress (Madison Pettis) who plays the daughter he didn't know he had, Peyton. The plot doesn't break much new ground, since many films have mined the territory of the self-indulgent child-adult who suddenly "inherits" a child (from Three Men and a Baby to Baby Boom to Big Daddy to Raising Helen). But thanks to the charismatic performance of Johnson, the film is winsome and uplifting. Johnson's comic timing and straight-man face are spot-on, as is his warm chemistry with the sweet-faced Pettis. Also giving notable performances are the lovely Roselyn Sanchez as Peyton's ballet teacher, and Kyra Sedgwick as Kingman's hard-nosed agent who's aghast at the appearance of an out-of-wedlock child. Children and adults both can enjoy the movie's warm-and-fuzzy moral of making family where you find it--or where it finds you. --A.T. Hurley
Customer Reviews:
- Cute Movie: This is a very cute movie. I have two boys ages 8 and 3 1/2 and they both love it. Watching "tuff guy" the Rock interacting with a cute little girl is funny and adorable. A nice family movie.
- GREAT FAMILY MOVIE.......: DeWayne "The Rock" Johnson delivers a stellar performance as Joe Kingman, a self-absorbed star quarterback who is suddenly thrust into fatherhood with the appearance on his doorstep of an 8-year-old daughter that he didn't know that he had. Immediately, his bachelor lifestyle is threatened with dramatic changes as he struggles to accomodate the needs of a little girl....who is also very determined to become an integral part of his life. Joe views Peyton's arrival as an intrusion...until a potential life-threatening event shows Joe that even big name quarterbacks can have a major Achilles heel....and it may have nothing to do with the gridiron.
A wonderful little story for all to watch...which is exactly what we've come to expect from anything with the Disney name attached to it.
DYB - Cute: I sat down and watched this with my 9 year old son and wife. There was enough football to keep my son amused and enough cut stuff with the little girl to keep my wife interested as well. I could have used more Roselyn Sanchez, but that is just my opinion. The movie is a fairly predictable story, but it works on the strength of the stars. The Rock shows some great comedic timing and a decent range of acting ability. Maybe we will lose another action star to family comedies like Vin Diesel. There is no bad language or adult situations. Aside from mentioning a death and the little girl getting ill once, it is all very tame stuff and very family friendly. This is a good one to watch with your loved ones.
- Alta's Review: I like the game plane, because it is funny, but sad. It really was funny when the Rock thought Madison was drowning, so he jumped in, but when he got out Madison was in the living room watching T.V. It was funny because the Rock was covered in suds. I like this movie because you should care about your kid because I think that is so sweet. I also like the movie, because it is sad, I think all good movies should be sad. If you like sad, but funny movies this is the movie for you.
- Great movie: My Grandchildren love this movie. It is funny and has a great story of bringing a dad and daughter together. We love the Elvis songs. The "Roc" is very good in this movie.
