Description: Packed with adrenaline-pumping action and heart-stopping suspense, this spectacular sequel escalates the war between sci-fi's scariest movie icons!

On Earth everyone can hear you scream, especially when a horrifying PredAlien crash-lands near a small Colorado town, killing everyone it encounters-and producing countless Alien offspring-with terrifying efficiency. When a lone Predator arrives to "clean up" the infestation, it's an all-out battle to the death with no rules, no mercy, and hundreds of innocent people caught in the crossfire. As the creature carnage continues, a handful of human survivors attempt a daring escape, but the U.S. government may be hatching a deadly plan of its own...Amazon.com: For those who found 2004's Aliens vs. Predator too lightweight in the gore-and-guns department, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem offers a marked improvement in both categories, as well as a respectable amount of rumbles between the title extraterrestrials. Set in the 21st century (which predates the story to all of the Alien features), Requiem sends a crippled Predator ship crashing to Earth in a small Colorado town; unbeknownst to the locals, the craft is loaded with H.R. Giger's insectoid monsters, which make quick work of most of the population. As the human cast is slowly whittled to a few hardy (if unmemorable) souls, a Predator warrior also arrives to complicate matters and do battle with the Aliens, as well as a ferocious alien-Predator hybrid (dubbed a Predalien by the sci-fi and horror press). Visual-effects designers and music-video helmers The Strause Brothers (who make their feature directorial debut here) keep the action on frantic throughout, which is wise, since the dialogue and characters are threadbare at best; that should matter little to teenage male viewers, who are inarguably the film's key audience. Fans of the Alien franchise, however, may find the offhanded nod to the series' mythology given during the finale its sole saving grace. --Paul Gaita

Customer Reviews:

  • More Gore, More Action, Less Story: Sometimes the second time around is better. In the case of Alien Vs. Predator-Requiem, the second time around is about the same. Sure, the gore, violence, language and terror get an upgrade, but there's still something missing. This sequel picks up the story from the very end of the first film, where the alien/predator hybrid, dubbed the "Predalien" by the cool kids, wreaks havoc on the Predator ship and it crash lands in a sleepy little Colorado town. Once it crashes, Alien facesuckers quickly latch on to the nearest victims. Meanwhile, a veteran Predator receives a distress signal from the crashed ship and sets out to clean up the mess that the younglings created.

From there the rest of the story is filled with chestbursters bursting, facesuckers sucking, and full-grown Alien baddies killing any and every human in sight while the Predator goes a'hunting for them all. There's also a small band of humans, all forgettable, who try to make it out of the chaos alive. To put a bit of a twist on the story, the government enters the fray and tries to save everybody, or do they?

The body count in this unrated version of the film is massive. Although you don't get to see a lot of the deaths (it would be impossible to squeeze them all in), there are a lot of gruesome moments in this flick. **Potential Spoiler** While the Predator kills by a code, no one, and I mean no one, is safe from the Aliens. Men, women and children (including babies) all face death in this film. This might be too much for some in the crowd to take. **End Spoiler**

When you finally reach the end credits, what you've witnessed is a loud, bloody battle between two of sci-fi's most popular baddies. Personally I preferred the original AVP film, but I'm probably in the minority there. AVPR is bigger and louder, but it's not necessarily better.

The DVD is pretty slim (this isn't the special edition) and contains only commentaries on it and a few previews. The lighting is terrible, and I found myself adjusting my TV screen often in order to see what was going on. I rented this DVD, but if I were to buy it, this is the version I'd go for. I honestly don't think this film warrants spending the extra dough on a special edition. I recommend this disc to fans of the genre, but not necessarily to those who prefer the Alien or Predator films only. Stick with the originals, they're much better than this slugfest.
  • Can I give is a minus start: This is absolutely one of the worst movies that I've ever seen. I love cheesy horror movies. Love practically anything sci-fi, but there are lines I don't like crossed in movies and this movie crossed every one of of them. I found it quite disturbing in many parts, and not in the 'ooh I'm scared', more in the "It's so sad than humanity now finds this entertaining." So, SPOILER ALERT. First, I detested the use of kids in this. One of the first victims is a child. Yes, you see the alien burst from the chest of an 8 year old. Great, thanks, you're killing children. Next, the pred-alien can impregnate people by distending his jaw to engulf the face of people and laying numerous eggs in each victim. It goes to a hospital, into the maternity ward. Not only do you see him standing over the cribs of newborns (thankfully we don't get to see the aliens bursting of the bodies of 1 day olds - perhaps their is hope for humanity - but that scene was probably actually shot/made) but you do get to see him engulfing the faces of pregnant women and the new aliens now filling their stomach. Instead of continuing with my diatribe, I'll just say this movie is pointless except for the filmaker to metaphorically say 'f** you' to all the boundaries of the past and 'yea, we're going to do it and you're going to watch it.' I'm very sorry I didn't read previous reviews. I just thought "Hey, I bet it's just cheesy in a sci-fi way." I actually liked the first AVP because it was fun and entertaining. This was nauseating and I hope I forget I ever saw it. Thanks guys, for ruining my love of the alien and predator franchises. Whatever film exec approved this movie should be fired, then made to watch the movie over and over and over. He's probably a sicko anyway and would enjoy it.
  • wish i had a smart and whitty title here: I had to turn this POS off. I swore I would not bother to watch this after the last s*&^%y movie they did together, and god knows what possesed me to rent this. This one is horrible because I can not tell what the hell is going on... everything is dark and in shadows, it cut's from sewers to space, to darkness of the sky... it's given me such a headache trying to watch it I had to turn it off. And the plot was boring anyway.

Who in the hell commissioned this dark pos for release?
  • WARNING - PITCH BLACK!!!!!: I loved AVP1 and think AVP2 was just as good BUT the quality of the DVD is horrible. SImply horrible. Previous reviews warned of this but I said to myself how bad could it really be. BAD!!!! VERY VERY BAD!!!!!!!! 90% of the movie was barely manageable to see and the other 10% one could not see at all. There were fast moving scenes that will make you feel off balanced trying to follow the fast movement with the darkened effect. I absolutley agree with others who complained about the poor visual quality of AVP2. NOT worth the purchase if I had to do it all over again. I look forward to AVP3 and will adhere to warnings if the quaility of AVP3 rivals that of AVP2.
  • one more for the collection: AVP - Alien Vs. Predator - The Unrated Edition (Collector's Edition)
we all wanted to see this one, but unfortunately it was filmed mostly in the dark. What could be seen made for good movie, and it is well worth being in your collection. Maybe it deserved more stars. You may as well buy a used one,it's not like put in it on pause or slow motion will present you with any more detail.
