Our Price: $9.97

Album Description: In 2004, Eagles of Death Metal launched their wholesome good-graciousness with Peace, Love, and Death Metal, followed in 2006, by the diabolical Death By Sexy. In 2008, EODM unleash Heart On. Speculators are speculating that the Dream Boy Duo of dance and prance will bring home Olympic Album Gold once again. The EODM formula for fantastic is humm: let's see...that's one part Jesse Boots Electric Hughes, and one part Joshua Babyduck Homme. Stirred and served chillllled in a tall glass of class. It goes down smooth every time. Features the single 'Wannabe In L.A.'.

Customer Reviews:

  • Great Album: Even better than Death by Sexy - if that is possible... You won't be disappointed!
  • What good's a heart if it ain't on your sleeve: Let me start out by saying that I've been a Josh Homme Advocate for several years now. My Love for Queens of the Stone Age and all their related works (the Dessert Sessions and such) eventually led me to "Peace Love and Death Metal". It was such a raw and pure return to rock that I really came to love it for its stripped down approach to steady drum beats and twangy guitar riffs. It was the kind of thing that can get the ladies movin and the guys rockin. the Follow up album "Death By Sexy" was the next evolution of the same head banging, rump shaking, rock driven tracks, with more elaborate and edgy solos. I highly recommend checking them out.

But let me get to "Heart On", Of the 3 albums to date, "Heart On" is by far the most widely accessible album to the general rock going audience. THIS DOES NOT IN ANY WAY MEAN THAT IT IS A MEDIOCRE COLLECTION OF MUSIC!!! Quite the opposite, right from the get go "anything 'cept the truth" starts it off with an anthem-like presence and arena filling guitars all backed by solid breaks and rolls on the drum kit, and a courageous dose of hand claps to keep the beat.

Without trying to break down every track i will say that for the most part you can listen to this album straight through with out much disappointment. Its definitely more polished than the first 2 albums and a bit more mellow. All around, it is a very well produced rock album that takes a fresh spin on and revitalizes classic rock sounds.

My personal highlights are "Anything 'cept The Truth", "(I Used to couldn't dance) Tight Pants", "Secret Plans", "Now I'm a Fool", "Heart On", "Cheap Thrills", "prissy prancin", and "I'm your torpedo".

Bottom line, ROCK FANS - GET THIS ALBUM!!!
  • T. Plummer is WRONG: T. Plummer doesn't know what he's talking about. This band IS the brainchild of Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme (of QOTSA) but is fronted by Jesse, not Josh. The songs are not poorly recorded, the band just has a scuzz metal/garage band sound. This CD is great. Do not listen to T. Plummmer. He doesn't know what he is talking about. For first time listeners, check out "Peace, Love, Death Metal" and "Death By Sexy" first, as they show the bands musical progression to "Heart On"
  • Naaah!: They have done better! Cant compare with the "Death By Sexy" and "Peace Love Death Metal" albums...unfortunately!
  • Doesn't Gel: Music: 4/10 Vocals: 3/5 Lyrics: 2/5 Production: 2/5
    Total: 11/25: D

The singer/guitarist from "Queens of the Stone Age" also fronts this band on his off days. EoDM is more stripped down band that explores different influences than the hard rock QotSA. Unfortunately, even though I can hear the makings of some great songs here, they are all under polished and poorly recorded. The entire album sounds like a few mics were set up in a room and the vocals overdubbed on that. The guitars sound very tiny and tinny. The songwriting sounds rushed. Many of the songs needed more time to fully flesh out. Instead they meander a bit or good hooks are paired with fodder.

Listened to in the background it sounds like a very good album. But when you pay attention you realize it all doesn't gel and it's a very poor outing.
